Mildenhall Warren Lodge Open Day Sunday 2021-09-26 10.00 – 15.30

Mildenhall Warren Lodge is a 600-year-old building, one of only two such standing buildings (the other is at Thetford)  to survive as evocative reminders of the warrening industry of the Brecks where rabbits were farmed commercially for their meat and their fur from the 1280s to the early twentieth century.

The Open Day is the annual opportunity to go inside the building and to view documents relating to the warren and the warreners who lived and worked there.

On display will be replica warreners’ smocks and original long staves and there will be a demonstration of net-making. Guided walks of the circular trail will take place at 11.00 and 14.00 if there is  enough demand.

There will be temporary signage on the A1065 just north of the Barton Mills roundabout to direct you to the warren lodge car park and there is a ten minute walk up the hill to the building.
