Open Research Online at the OU: Free resource for British history researchers
Members of the SIAH might be interested to learn of the Open University’s Open Research Online resources:
ORO is an open access repository managed by the OU Library which can be accessed by anyone with an internet connection. The OU hopes this “will make important and significant student research available to a wider audience and provide a useful resource for other researchers interested in British and Irish local history”. It will also “provide a permanent link to a fully-protected and copyright compliant version of work” submitted to the Open University.
Thanks to our member Wes Moore for bringing this to our attention. The OU recently added his MA dissertation The Social and Economic Effects of Migration to New Zealand on the people of Stoke by Nayland, Suffolk 1853 to 1871 to the ORO where it can now be accessed via the link http://oro.open.ac.uk/id/eprint/70402
